It was reported on a number of blogs that the Holy Father would be using a set of glass vessels for the Eucharistic Celebration in Venice, which would have obviously been in direct contradiction to the Instruction Redemptionis Sacramentum; for the record, he didn't use them. Ad multos annos vivat Benedictum!

Yes, but have you seen the glass vessels they were offering him? I know the Holy Father would never have used them in any event, but there's a photopraph on Fr Ray's blog and they look, to my non-venetian eye, hideous! Take a look and decide for yourself.
