Sunday Sermon, August 2nd -- Don't Be Afraid of Coronavirus (Father Ryan Erlenbush, Corpus Christi Parish)

When the thousands followed our Lord into the wilderness, the Apostles wanted to send them to the villages to satisfy their needs, but Jesus provides for the crowd through the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fish.

Similarly, today many turn to the world to satisfy our problems and especially to calm our anxiety about COVID -- however, only the Lord can give us peace and he alone can safely guide us through this time of pandemic.

Many of the worldly solutions to the pandemic actually pull people away from Christ -- whether it be the shut down of churches, the development of vaccines from aborted babies, or the refusal to allow priests to give Last Rites to those dying in hospitals and nursing homes.  Souls are being lost, and people are being overcome by fear.  But the Lord tells us "Be Not Afraid!"
