The New Theological Movement: The Contributors

Fr. Ryan Erlenbush
Fr. Erlenbush is a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Great Falls – Billings in Montana, USA. He was ordained on 23 June 2009. Completing his seminary studies at the North American College in Rome, he received an STB from the Pontifical Gregorian University and both an MA and an STL from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum), focusing on dogmatic theology.

Fr. Erlenbush posts his homilies at Father Ryan's Sunday Sermons.

Fr. Erlenbush had previously written articles under the pseudonym Reginaldus, referring to two heroic Dominican priests: Reginald of Piperno who was the close friend and confessor of St. Thomas Aquinas, as well as Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange who is surely the greatest Thomist of our day.

The contributors to The New Theological Movement had previously adopted pseudonyms. For an explanation of this, see our article in defense of pseudonymous blogging.

Was this an act of obedience?

Vince,
Not sure what you mean by "an act of obedience" ... it certainly wasn't an "act of DISobedience"! :)

Fr. Martin and I had decided to post our names after several of the other contributors (i.e. Iosephus Sebastianus, Columba, Patrick Joseph, and Alphonsus) decided to no longer write for the blog.

We thought it would be good for the readers to know at least a little something about the two of us, since there is a legitimate concern for verifying that NTM contains authentic Catholic teaching.

[If you are asking whether this post was required or asked for by our respective bishops, the answer is no]

Oh! So that's who you are! Thanks for kicking it up a notch. It will make remembering you in my prayers much easier now.

Is it just a holy coincidence that both of you share the same haircuts/hairstyles as your name-patrons?

Fr. Stanley,
Truth is, I had never even noticed the similarities until Stacy Trasancos mentioned it above!

It is a funny thing -- but it is also sad, Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange was probably at least twice my age in that picture but we have about the same amount of hair! :-)
